Spirit Lead Me Where My Trust is Without Borders

I started this blog/book with a story about letting go of expectations, the story of how I dealt with the loss of a church I loved. That experience was the catalyst behind what you’ve been reading. I knew that letting go of expectations meant that I needed to trust Jesus with all of my heart. I wasn’t sure I did, so I decided to learn as much as I could about what it means to trust God and how to do it.
I wanted to take my eyes off of the circumstances around me and place them on Jesus. Above the Waves, a phrase, from Oceans, by Hillsong, has served as a theme for my writing. I wanted to know more about what it means to keep my eyes above the waves, and on Jesus instead.
I’ve had experience with trusting Jesus throughout my life, and He has proven himself trustworthy, and I've also had a lot of experience with taking back that trust and relying on myself instead. I wanted to change, to become more steadfast in my faith, and I knew I needed help.

To trust in someone takes great courage, but to trust in someone you can’t see or touch is even harder. I knew I couldn’t make myself do it through sheer willpower. I know you can’t either.
The first thing we need to realize is that our ability to trust Jesus has never been about us and it never will be. That help that we need comes through the Holy Spirit. Yes, learning more about why and how to trust God is important, and a good portion of what I’ve written over the past few months has covered those areas. God gave us thinking, analytical minds for a reason, but it’s the Holy Spirit who moves that head knowledge to the heart, where the real change happens. Even the beginning, the desire to trust in God, with all of our hearts, starts with the Holy Spirit. All glory goes to God. There’s no room for boasting. It’s all grace.
The Holy Spirit has helped me. He has been working in my heart, through the process of study and writing, through life experiences, through the teachers that he brings into my life, and through the grace of Jesus. I’m growing to become more like Him every day. What I’ve been learning and sharing has been exciting, and it has been a joy and privilege to share with you along the way. I pray that the Holy Spirit will work in your heart, and that these simple words I’ve shared, will be used by Him, for His good work, and for His glory in your life.
I want to trust in Jesus with all of my heart, not only because it brings me peace, and is for my good, but also because it is an act of worship towards the One who deserves it. I invite you to join me. Let’s allow the Spirit to lead us where our “trust is without borders,” into a deeper relationship with the One who is completely sovereign, who is infinite in wisdom, and perfect in love. He is trustworthy.

As some of you know, what you’ve been reading here has been the “rough draft” of a book I’ve been working on. Over the next few days, I’ll be wrapping up the final chapter of that book on this blog. From there, I'll begin editing, with a goal towards publication by the end of the year. I will continue to write on this blog, but I will need to move from publishing here 3x to 2x per week over the next few months, so that I will also have time to work on the book.
