“True smallness is an invitation to live as I was meant to live, to accept my humanity, and to offer my ability and my inability, my sin and my success, my messes and my masterpieces into the hands of God.”- Emily P. Freeman, Simply Tuesday

Simply Tuesday, is a book that invites the reader to embrace the ordinary, to exhale, and to recognize that the kingdom work of God is accomplished in the small moments of everyday life.

Above, a collection of my Tuesday moments.  Each week on Instagram, I've played along with Emily's #itssimplytuesday, enjoying the community that has formed around the idea.  I plan on continuing the tradition each Tuesday, here.  Care to join us?  Please do!

I needed this book.  I think we all do.  Sometimes I forget, that it’s in the daily things of life, that Christ is found- and embracing this, is what makes for a faithful life.  Tuesday, in this book, is used as a metaphor for ordinary, plain, and small. In that sweet, insightful voice, that any of you who have been reading Emily’s blog (Chatting at the Sky) will recognize, the reader is taken through five main sub-topics within the theme of Tuesdays- home, work, people, soul, and beyond (vision).

I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.  Reading the book encouraged me to slow down and to allow myself to let go of outcomes that I foolishly try and hold onto, and instead, faithfully do my work, acknowledging that it’s God who is in control.

“Small is the position of my soul, the posture by which I approach others, God, and myself.  When I’m small, I know I can’t control opinions, manipulate outcomes, or force my agenda on others.  When I’m small, I can move into the world confident as the person I most deeply am because I know I don’t move in the world alone.”  -Emily P. Simply Tuesday was just released (on Tuesday, appropriately) and is now available at all the usual places (Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, etc).  I was given a free copy of the book to review, but all opinions are my own.

And because I appreciate you, dear readers, I will buy and send a copy to one person.  I’m keeping it simple.  Just leave a comment (and make sure you leave some contact info) and I will choose one random name on Sunday, 8/23.  If you want to share this giveaway, that would be very kind.  Simply Tuesday is a book worth sharing.  I plan on giving several copies to friends and family because I believe in the message and I believe it is a book people will love.

Also, this isn’t the only book I reviewed, that I’m giving away a copy of, this week.  If you haven’t had a chance to read my review on For the Love, by Jen Hatmaker, and if you’d like to have a chance to win that one, you can do it here
